Arman Tsarukyan is currently the top in the line to fight Islam Makhachev for the UFC lightweight championship. The fight was expected to take place this year but due to Makhachev’s injury, it is now moved to early 2025. Going into the fight, many fans and experts have shared their predictions including former US Army Matt Frevola.
Matt Frevola is currently scheduled to fight Fares Ziam this weekend at the UFC Paris. It would be his chance to bounce back from last year’s loss. Ahead of the fight, he did an interview where he talked about the potential title fight between Makhachev and Tsarukyan. According to Frevola, Tsarukyan does have the skills to beat Makhachev in a highly competitive fight.

Frevola has previously fought Arman Tsarukyan at UFC 257 where he lost via unanimous decision. Just because of that, Frevola wants Tsarukyan to win against the Dagestani. Frevola is an army veteran and lieutenant in the United States Army Reserve.

The fighter got into MMA and despite less experience, he later joined UFC via Dana White’s Contender Series in 2018. Since then, the fighter has stacked up some considerable wins against fighters like Jalin Turner, Drew Dober, etc. However, being consistent in a highly competitive lightweight division is not an easy task at all.

I think it’s got the biggest pool of fighters at 155, competing. We are big enough, we are wrong enough to knock each other out. We are skilled enough like the flyweights. I think lightweight is most definitely the most exciting division.
