Many young fighters have joined the UFC in the past decade. Subsequently, many have claimed they would be the ones to break Jon Jonesโ€™ record as the youngest champion in the UFC. However, Raul Rosas Jr. is the first to truly have a real chance at achieving that. The first two years of Rosas Jr.โ€™s career in the octagon have been incredibly thrilling. He has also gotten the attention of UFC legends, including commentator Joe Rogan.

Rosas Jr. has an incredible wrestling and jiu-jitsu base, showcasing why the Mexican is considered one of the most intriguing prospects on the roster. In the video, Rosas Jr. is in training as he lands the perfect flying armbar. Rosas Jr. pulls the neck in before perfectly locking his legs to separate his opponentโ€™s arm away as he clinches the armbar in midair.

Rosas Jr. has a record of 10 wins and 1 loss, with 5 wins and a loss inside the UFC. He is currently on a three-fight winning streak after his UD win at UFC 306 and is ready to fight ranked opponents. As such, landing that submission itself shows the levels at which Rosas Jr. is training and gearing up to climb the ranks. Moreover, getting his fundamentals perfected is the way to go towards UFC gold.

This submission practice is similar to the legendary Demetrious Johnsonโ€˜s win with the same flying armbar. The only difference is DJ landed that submission and won the title fight at UFC 216 rather than a training spar. The submission is so hard to land that Rogan hails it the wildest submission ever.

Joe Rogan on Demetrious Johnsonโ€™s submission

When the UFC launched its flyweight division, Johnson became its inaugural champion. Renowned for his speed and elusive striking, โ€˜Mighty Mouseโ€™ established himself as a dominant force in the organization. At UFC 216, Johnson suplexed Ray Borg, and before Borg could hit the ground, he transitioned to an armbar. Borg tried everything he could to get out of it, but at that point, the submission was fully locked in. This got Johnson the wildest submission heโ€™s ever landed, as described by Rogan.

It is fair to say Johnson was on a mission to make Borg know the difference in levels in that fight. Previously criticized by Borg for his wrestling not being good, Johnson popped out and showed everyone his fight IQ. This submission finish also got him the Submission of the Year in 2017. It was also Johnsonโ€™s 11th title defense, putting him past Anderson Silvaโ€™s record of 10 title defenses.

Joe Rogan: Flying Armbar!

He solidified his status as one of the greatest mixed martial artists ever. After his victory over Borg, Johnson had to defend his title against Henry Cejudo for the second time. Unfortunately, he lost a tightly contested decision to Cejudo, with many fans still believing that โ€˜DJโ€™ deserved the win. With Mighty Mouseโ€™s retirement earlier this month, it is fair to say he will go down as a GOAT of the sport.
