Former Toronto Raptors star Lou Williams has been enjoying life. He recently made an appearance on the ‘Underground Lounge’ alongside another former Raptors star, DeMar DeRozan. Interestingly, Williams made an intriguing claim regarding his NBA career. He stated that his career was hampered due to a song released by Raptors fan and world-famous rapper Drake.

Drake may have felt that mentioning Lou Williams by name in his song was appropriate. The two also become very close friends over time. The 37-year-old former NBA player who was named the team’s first Sixth Man of the Year is the subject of Drake’s song “6 Man.” However, one wrong line from the song led to the downfall between the Raptors and Williams.

Drake mentioned Williams having two girlfriends in his song. The lyrics go, “6 Man like Lou Will, 2 girls and they get along like I’m (Lou).” This led to the Raptors not re-signing Williams and labeling him as a ‘bad influence.’

The word was they didn’t resign me back to Toronto because of my lifestyle. They said I was bad influence.

Nevertheless, Williams enjoyed his time as a professional basketball player. He played for many teams in the NBA. Lou Williams had 17 seasons as a player for six teams, the Hawks and 76ers among them. In 1,123 regular-season games, he averaged 13.9 points, 3.4 assists, and 2.2 rebounds. He was named the Sixth Man of the Year thrice.

I honestly feel like I did enough…The Basketball Hall of Fame is about making an impact on the game that nobody else has been able to do. And I feel like I especially have done that.

It’s important to note that Lou Williams never made an All-Star squad or an NBA All-Star team in his career. Throughout his final 11 years in the league, he started just 38 games. Hence, the topic of including Williams in the NBA HOF is a bit debatable, even if he feels that he should be included.
