It is public knowledge that Shaquille O’Neal and Rudy Gobert have been going at each other for years. On a recent episode of ‘The OGs Show,’ the NBA legend discussed the feud where he confirmed that it is not personal. Shaq has made a reputation as one who wouldn’t hesitate to speak his mind regardless of status.

The issue between both stars has gone on for years, where Shaquille O’Neal has been very critical of Rudy Gobert, and traded jabs on several occasions. His legendary career made him one of the league’s dominant players and his perspective is derived from a place of deep experience.

You know, it’s not personal cause I’ve been in the trenches with you. A lot of these big men, when I put up these challenges, they fail the test, cause they respond. They’re sensitive. You know, when I speak, I try to speak from facts. It may come out wrong and you may think I’m hating.

His controversial style of criticism has often put him at odds with modern centers like Gobert, Joel Embiid, and Dwight Howard. However, some fans believe he went too far with the criticism, especially when he labeled Gobert the worst player. As such, it didn’t sit too well with the fans and the player, who responded.

Notwithstanding, Gobert has to make efforts to prove Shaq and all his other critics wrong with his performances. His team, the Minnesota Timberwolves start the season against the Los Angeles Lakers and that would be a perfect audition for the four-time Defensive Player of the Year winner.

Shaquille O’Neal reflects on missed opportunities for more NBA rings

In his prime, Shaquille O’Neal led the Los Angeles Lakers to three NBA titles. He even left to win another title with the Miami Heat. However, speaking on the OG’s Show, he believes he could have won more than the four NBA championships he currently holds.

During the conversation with Udonis Haslem and Mike Miller, he talked about the ‘had it been’ moments in his career which included his time with LeBron James on the Cavaliers. He then outlined every chance he had to add one more title to his already impressive resume.

I should’ve had 8 rings. I’m not talking about free throws right now. I’m talking about messed-up opportunity. We should’ve had two; I should’ve gotten one or two with Penny. Me and Kob lost to Detroit, we should’ve gotten that.

Unfortunately for Shaq, NBA legend Bill Russell holds the record for the most championships, with 11 rings during his time with the Boston Celtics. However, in today’s time, Robert Horry has the most titles, where he won seven championships across three teams.

Shaq’s time in the league saw him lose two NBA Finals, with the Orlando Magic and the LA Lakers. He also had disappointing spells when he lost in a couple of conference finals during his time with the Cavs, Heat and Celtics.
