on Sunday Ferrari claimed their first victory in Le Mans since 1965. However, the same cannot be said about their Formula One team.

The Ferrari F1 team’s last victory was at the Austrian Grand Prix last year. Despite their poor performance, CEO Benedetto Vigna assures his commitment to Ferrari’s Formula One side. “The next goal? To continue winning,” he told Eurosport after the Italian team’s emerged victorious at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

“Was the bad start of the season in Formula 1 stressful for me? “You know, I have more significant reasons for stress. For the team, this is a chance to improve and learn a lot,” he said, referring to the Scuderia’s dull form. Ferrari has only a single podium in the 2023 Formula One season. “We must build a machine that will be better than the previous one, but this rule is true for everything we do,” he continued

He further emphasized how racing is a big part of Ferrari’s existence and how valuable it is to the company. “Racing is in the DNA of our company. So Formula 1, World Endurance Championship, we will keep investing there because we see a lot of technologies that can go from the track to the road,” he concluded.

Car number 51 took a sensational victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans on its first appearance in the hypercar age. After battling it out with Toyota who were looking to clench their 6th victory in a row, Ferrari fended them off and won this prestigious endurance race. In a race tangled with safety cars and wet conditions, the Italian team found their way to the podium’s top step.

After car number 50 of Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina, and Nicklas Nielsen took pole position, they were the front-running Ferrari until a trip to the gravel trap and a malfunctioning energy recovery system threw them out of contention. They ultimately finished in P5.

The Toyota car number 7, belonging to Kamui Kobayashi, Mike Conway, and Jose Maria, was in the title fight until their race ended after a collision with a backmarker team, just after Ferrari car number 51 craned out from the gravel traps.
