Conor McGregor and the UFCโ€™s dramatic tale has taken an intriguing turn. The Irishman, who is undoubtedly the biggest superstar in Dana Whiteโ€™s promotion, has urged for an alternate solution for him. As such, McGregor mentioned a joint partnership with another promotion for a fight. To be precise, itโ€™s a Floyd Mayweather-type deal.

The last time McGregor for a crossover fight, he clashed against boxing legend Floyd Mayweather. Interestingly, that fight gave the Irishman a hefty $130 million and a lot of popularity as well. However, the UFC is stalling his comeback fight due to McGregorโ€™s current fight status. Even after positive talks about it a few weeks ago, Dana White and his co havenโ€™t announced the Irishmanโ€™s fight yet. Following this, the โ€˜Notoriousโ€™ threw down a proposal.

This comes after a year-long delay of Conor McGregorโ€™s fight against Michael Chandler. Speaking of Chandler, the 38-year-old American was equally frustrated with being inactive. As such, he even faced a lot of criticism from the netizens. โ€˜Ironโ€™ announced his wish to move on from the McGregor fight. Interestingly, recently, the UFC even acknowledged Chandlerโ€™s request and gave him a fight against former lightweight champ Charles Oliveira.

Upon hearing the announcement, the Irishman was seemingly disappointed. As such, he even lashed out at Chandler on his socials. After all these recent developments, McGregor expressed his state of mind and mentioned that he wanted to be busy. Interestingly, the news that broke the internet might have been misunderstood as later clarified by the UFC CEO himself.

The fight between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler was almost imminent in June 2024 for UFC 303. However, with just a week left for the fight, the Irishman had to pull out. Following this, there was again a period of inactivity for both fighters. Chandler, who had no issues for a long time and was ready to fight, had to suffer the consequences of that pull-out.

However, following a heated series of back-and-forth between McGregor and Chandler, the latter finally decided to take up other fights. Interestingly, several individuals thought that the UFC had completely called off their fight.

However, as reported by Barstool journalist Robbie Fox, White later clarified the news with a hope for the McGregor vs. Chandler fight.

Dana said there was a misunderstanding in our exchange. That fight still may happen but Michael Chandler is taking a fight first… The Conor (McGregor) fight still may happen in the future but Michael Chandler is taking that fight first. We will see what happens with Conor, he’s not going to be back until 2025.

The Barstool reporter also mentioned that Chandlerโ€™s fight against Oliveira would take place at the co-main event of UFC 309 in November. However, what McGregor does next remains to be seen. Given his flamboyant nature, the Irishman might explore other options, as he stated in the presser.
