Former India batsman Gautam Gambhir finally broke his silence on the ugly spat with Virat Kohli in a recent interview. The two got embroiled in an altercation during the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Lucknow.
Since that incident, everything has been said and written about what happened and how that controversy started. But Gambhir, while sharing his opinion on the altercation, also name-dropped former India captain MS Dhoni to assert that there is nothing wrong between him and the other two. There are speculations that things are not right between Gambhir and Dhoni, but the latter has quashed those things in the past.
“My relationship with MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli is the same. If there is an argument between us, it stays on the field, not off the field. There’s nothing personal. They want to win as much as I do,” Gambhir said in an interview with News 18.

Gautam Gambhir doesn’t want to clarify arguments
Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir had fought even in 2013 when Gambhir was the captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). In 2023, Kohli also had a heated exchange with LSG pacer Naveen-ul-Haq and even was seen having an animated chat with LSG opener Kyle Mayers. After the brawl, all three of them, Naveen, Kohli, and Gambhir were slapped with heavy fines for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct.
Gambhir then pointed out that though he had fought several times on the field, he always ensured to leave those arguments at the cricket field only. “A lot of people said many things. A lot of people demanded an interview for TRPs. They asked me to clarify. The thing that has happened between two people doesn’t need to be clarified,” Gambhir added.
