Since joining the league, Chicago Sky star Angel Reese has generated significant buzz as one of the most talked-about rookies in the WNBA. Amidst all the excitement surrounding her, Reese recently launched her new podcast Unapologetically Angel.
During the podcast, Maya Reese, the co-host, asked Angel Reese about her relationship with former LSU teammate Flau’jae Johnson. Reese stated that the relationship between her and Johnson is not the same as it was back in their days at LSU.
I still support Falu’Jae. We aren’t as close as we used to be. And there’s no hard feelings or anything but we aren’t as close as we used to be. That’s why people always expect us to like still be posting each other and stuff like that but we aren’t as close.
Angel Reese said
Reese mentioned that, with her moving up to the WNBA and both stars having busy schedules, it is hard for them to catch up. She, however, mentioned that there were no hard feelings between both stars.
Reese and Johnson formed a successful duo during their time at LSU. Not only did they excel on the court, but they also shared a strong bond off the court. They frequently featured on each other’s social media accounts and entertained fans as a duo.
Both stars stood up for each other during the tough times. During the LSU’s loss in 2024 NCAA championship, Reese broke down in the press conference. Afterwards, Johnson came for Reese’s aid during the interview.
The fans found it hard to swallow the news that the LSU duo was not as close as they had thought. Later in the segment, Reese mentioned that she would soon visit LSU and spend time with her former teammates.
Angel Reese suffered a season ending injury
Since entering the league, Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark have both proven to be dominant rookies, with Clark now having a clear edge in the Rookie of the Year race after Angel Reese suffered a season-ending injury. The competition between the two up-and-coming stars was close until Reese’s unfortunate injury, which has now seemingly given Caitlin Clark an advantage in the race for the award.
Reese suffered the injury during the game between the Chicago Sky and Los Angeles Sparks. Her team announced that Reese had suffered a wrist injury during the game, which left many fans disappointed.
In her last game against the Sparks, Reese dominated by scoring a double-double of 24 points, the game-high, and 12 rebounds.
Reese certainly had one of the best rookie seasons in recent WNBA history. Throughout the season, Reese proved to be a rebounding genius and even went on to break records. The Chicago star will certainly return next season improved and with a greater hunger for success.
