"They don't try to kill us," Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs comically compares NFL practices to Nick Saban's intense Alabama practice sessions

“Understanding the importance of effective communication in the workplace is crucial for any individual. Clear and concise communication not only helps in achieving organizational goals but also fosters healthy working relationships. In this article, we will explore the significance of communication in the workplace along with some tips on how to improve it.”

The Detroit Lions shocked everyone by selecting Alabama running back Jahmyr Gibbs as the 12th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Nobody expected Gibbs to be drafted that high. Gibbs was a projected late first-round or early second-round pick but the Lions swooped him with their 12th overall pick.

And now, the Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs has started training with his new team and claims he already likes how the Lions are planning to use him on the field. Gibbs believes he will get a lot of playing time in the rookie year itself and looks forward to being used as a versatile back who involves in both rushing and receiving games.

Moreover, during a recent interview after an OTA session, Gibbs talked with reporters and compared the NFL practices with Nick Saban‘s Alabama practice sessions. “Here, we get good work in, but they don’t try to kill us,” joked Gibbs.

Nick Saban created a dynasty with the Alabama Crimson Tide football team. Apart from winning six titles, Saban has also coached plenty of talented players. In the 2023 NFL Draft, there were 10 players (tied most) drafted from the Alabama team.

Moreover, multiple starting QBs that are dominating in the league, including Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa, were coached by Nick Saban. Without those hard training sessions, it would be difficult for a team to be that successful.

The Detroit Lions entered the 2023 NFL Draft with two first-round picks. They had the No.6 pick which was acquired from the Los Angeles Rams as a part of the Matthew Stafford trade and they also had their own 18th overall pick.

The Lions were expected to address their defensive line needs with their 6th overall pick, but the Detroit head coach Dan Campbell and general manager Brad Holmes had different ideas.

Holmes traded down from the 6th overall pick and drafted Alabama, running back Gibbs as the 12th pick in the first round. The move shocked a lot of people since Gibbs was expected to be a late first-round pick.

Additionally, the Lions gave another shock to their fans as they drafted the Iowa linebacker Jack Campbell with their 18th overall pick. Campbell was projected to be a second-round selection.

The Lions drafting strategy of drafting a running back in the top 15 has been criticized by a lot of people. If things go south this season, GM Brad Holmes and HC Dan Campbell could lose their jobs because of their drafting tactics.
