The Dallas Mavericks were one of the best sides this past 2023-24 NBA season. They clinched the Western Conference Finals and reached the NBA Finals. However, this was only possible because of their star players, Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. Their impact on the roster did wonders for the Mavs last season. Also, both stars compliment each other on the court, knowing each other’s game thoroughly.
Notably, Doncic took to his Instagram stories to remind everyone of his admiration for Irving ahead of the new NBA season. Unsurprisingly, Doncic likened himself as Robin to Irving’s Batman last season. Moreover, he also won the hearts of the NBA community by posting his baby and wife on his stories.
Luka Doncic averaged 33.9 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 9.8 assists whereas Kyrie Irving averaged 25.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 5.2 assists. Both players had outstanding seasons. Furthermore, both stars agreed to new deals with the Mavs. Doncic agreed on a five-year extension, worth around $346 million whereas Irving signed a $240 million four-year contract that would retain him in Dallas through the 2028–2029 season and greatly increase his career earnings.
Although achieving financial success is important, championship victories are still Doncic and Irving’s ultimate goals. They will surely concentrate on converting their on-court chemistry into championships for the Mavericks. It remains to be seen how the two stars perform ahead of the 2024-25 NBA season.

The Dallas Mavericks star duo Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic are the most important players on the roster. Also, Irving called Doncic his ‘hermano’ during the NBA finals in a press conference. Notably, Irving was struggling to make an impact in the NBA Finals but opened up on his bond with Doncic and what needed to get better.
It started with me, just telling my ‘hermano’ (Luka Doncic) I gotta play better for him, alongside him, in order for us to accomplish our goal. We both have to be playing well and we both have to be doing the little things and doing whatever it takes to win.
Kyrie Irving told the reporters last season
Unfortunately, for both stars, things did not go down well. The Boston Celtics defeated them in Game 5 of the NBA Finals. Despite that, the Mavs do not look like stopping here as they added Klay Thompson to their roster ahead of the new NBA season. With the likes of Donic, Irving, and Thompson at their disposal, the Mavs are one team to watch this season.
