“Caught me off guard!” – Steph Curry reveals LeBron James’ encouragement during Olympic shooting slump

Even the best have worse days, and Steph Curry wasn’t an exception. He experienced an unusual shooting slump during the just concluded summer Olympic Games. One of the many ways he could snap out of it was made known recently. It had something to do with LeBron James. It was revealed when Curry spoke with Stephen Colbert. 

Stephen Curry revealed that he had an unexpected motivation from longtime rival turned teammate, LeBron James. According to him, this was a surprise. James and Curry were suiting up for the first time in a competitive game and made the most of it with their support for one another on and off the court. 

I was doing an interview with one of the guys from the Bay Area… He’s asking me the same question, ‘What’s wrong with your shot?… I was like, ‘No, we’re winning. I know it’s gonna come.’ As soon as I said it, LeBron walks right behind me and he’s like, ‘Damn right it is.’… It kinda caught me off guard… It was definitely a confidence boost.

As they say, “form is temporary while class is permanent.” This was extremely evident as Steph Curry ended up putting up 60 points in his last two games. He scored 36 points in the comeback win against Serbia and 24 points in the masterclass against France in the Finals. This incredible output ensured he left Paris with his first gold medal and as Team USA’s top scorer. 

Although he wasn’t able to win the Olympics MVP, with lots of speculations making the rounds why he didn’t. However, fans were thrilled to see the chemistry between two players who competed against each other fiercely for NBA supremacy. 

Stephen Curry rejects new nickname earned during his Paris Olympics exploits

The Warriors superstar is a man of many names, with the popular ones being, ‘Baby Faced Assassin’ and ‘Chef Curry.’ During the Olympics, he earned another from the French broadcasters after he cooked the French team during the Finals. 

However, he shared during The Late Show with Stephen Colbert that he won’t be keeping the name. The nickname in question calls him ‘The Devil Curry’ after his ‘wicked’ performance for Team USA. Nevertheless, it won’t become a regular feature. Check out the clip below.

Steph Curry ended his maiden Olympic game with averages of 14.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game and would be proud of the career he has achieved so far. However, his attention is focused on ensuring he restores the Warrior’s fear factor, which apparently was lost last season.
