Yikes... Is The UFC's Sphere Event Flopping?

Canelo Alvarez’s upcoming fight and Dana White’s dream project are set to clash against each other on September 14. The fighting community is puzzled about which event to watch. However, that does not seem to be a problem for Oscar De La Hoya. In his latest video, the boxing promoter announced his arrival at his rival’s prestigious UFC event at Las Vegas Sphere.

Oscar De La Hoya and Canelo Alvarez were once a team. However, that bond turned into a fierce animosity against each other a few years ago. In recent years, the rivalry has only intensified among them. As such, in one of his ‘Clap Back Thursdays’ videos, De La Hoya took another shot at Canelo. In doing so, he also confirmed his presence at UFC CEO Dana White’s UFC Noche event.

We’re a week away from the boxing match that no one asked for and a UFC event everyone will be watching… I’ll actually be attending the UFC event at the Sphere… The idea I’m choosing to attend UFC and support Dana White instead of Canelo tells you everything.

Oscar De La Hoya and Dana White are among the stand-out personalities of their respective fields. However, the UFC CEO and the boxing promoter are not known to be best of friends. As such, both of them are often seen taking several verbal shots at each other. Most recently, De La Hoya slammed White for a controversial past event in the UFC CEO’s life.

Even after their intense animosity, the boxing promoter’s latest statement against White puzzled everyone. Interestingly, this might be another attempt from De La Hoya to end the bad blood against each other for good. Interestingly, De La Hoya’s recent video has slammed Alvarez once again. However, this time for the exorbitant ticket prices for Canelo’s upcoming fight.

Oscar De La Hoya takes a dig at the Canelo Alvarez vs. Edgar Berlanga matchup again

Mexican boxing sensation Canelo Alvarez returns from a five-month break to fight inside the boxing ring. Alvarez’s last fight was against Jaime Munguia, which drew several criticisms against the Mexican boxer. Interestingly, Canelo’s current fight against Edgar Berlanga has also faced similar scrutiny from the community. Among them, most of the time, Alvarez’s former promoter, De La Hoya, slammed the Mexican’s upcoming matchup.

Along with De La Hoya, there were several other individuals as well who did not want to see Canelo fight Berlanga. The reasons for this may vary. However, as for the Golden Boy boss, he didn’t hold back with his case against Canelo. De La Hoya double-downed his rant against Alvarez as he ripped the $89.99 price tag for the pay-per-view event.

Canelo is fighting Berlanga, another snoozefest. They’re trying to sell a PPV for $90 at a $500 minimum in person. It’s just robbery at this point to pay for another lame Canelo that always goes the distance against a sub-par opponent.

However, amidst that, Canelo is focused on his training ahead of his fight on September 14. As for De La Hoya, his attempt to offer a hand of friendship to White is quite intriguing. However, now it remains to be seen how this tale unfolds when they come face to face against each other.
