Anthony Edwards CLAIMS Michael Jordan was the only player with โ€˜TRUE SKILLโ€™ in the 90s Era #nba

Anthony Edwards is undoubtedly one of the standout performers in the league over the past few years. However, he has been in the spotlight recently, after making controversial comments about the 90s generation. Many basketball legends from that era and even analysts have not taken his comments lightly.

Now, former NBA veteran Dominique Wilkins is the latest person to weigh in on the matter. While speaking on All The Smoke Productions lately, Wilkins chose to caution the Olympic medalist differently.

We give all eras their respect because we had to learn from somebody right?… But the one thing we will say is that it’s their time. We’ve had our time. But I hate when they try to sh** on us just to prove their point. They don’t have to do that. You know? But don’t use past eras to elevate yourself.
Anthony Edwards said

Just weeks ago, Edwards claimed that Michael Jordan was the only skilled player from his generation. The Timberwolves star said this during an interview with the Wall Street Journal. With his statements, he downplayed the talents of legends such as Hakeem Olajuwon, Magic Johnson, and a host of others. This sparked outrage, leading to condemnations from legends of the game such as Rasheed Wallace, Kevin Garnett and many others.

It appears Wilkins feels the 23-year-old may have crossed the line with those comments. According to him, players of his generation had high esteem for others who came before them and always appreciated the game. He also pointed out that despite the pedigree of his era, they avoided making such comparisons as Edwards did. The Hall of Famer who primarily played for the Atlanta Hawks during his career, retired from the sport in 1999.

Anthony Edwards once claimed Michael Jordan canโ€™t guard him

Anthony Edwards is having the time of his life as a pro basketball star. The shooting guard was part of the 2024 USA โ€œAvengersโ€ Team that won the Paris Olympics gold medal. Nonetheless, back in 2023, the Timberwolves star made a bold statement regarding NBA legend, Michael Jordan.

Itโ€™s worth noting that fans often compare Edwardsโ€™ gameplay to that of Jordan as there are similarities between them. However, it turns out he wants no more of those comparisons. Edwards then boasted in a conversation with Complex, that the legendary player himself would be unable to guard him in the present-day NBA. While responding to the question posed by show host Speedy Morman, he said: โ€œHell nah! No.โ€

This was a huge statement as heโ€™s yet to achieve anything in the game compared to MJ. However, Ant-Man, as heโ€™s fondly called, is known for his confidence. Also, he had an outstanding season with the Timberwolves this past 2023-24 season. He will be hoping to achieve success as soon as possible in the upcoming NBA season.
