There have often been discussions regarding the potential of NBA players to excel in football. But it seems like Stefon Diggs has identified one player who could be an exemplary receiver in the National Football League.ย

In a recent interview with GQ Sports, the Houston Texansโ€™ newly acquired star wide receiver sat down to answer questions about his career, new team, and football, just a day prior to the 2024 NFL season. In a subsequent question, Diggs was asked if he believed any basketball player would be able to play at his position of a wideout.

This is a very complicated question. I think Kyrie Irving will make a good receiver. In my opinion, we go back to opinions.
Stefon Diggs replied

Keeping in mind how easily words are interpreted wrongly on social media, Diggs made it clear that he is stating his personal opinion by naming the Dallas Mavericks star an exemplary player, who can excel playing at the position of a receiver in the league.ย

Though Diggs didnโ€™t specify his reason for choosing Irving, it can be presumed his opinion was based upon the remarkable season the NBA player had last season. His pairing with Luka Doncic led the Mavericks to the NBA Finals and experienced a great season regardless of the fact they were defeated by the Boston Celtics.ย

Irving experienced impressive individual success and earned prominence in the competitive sport. In the regular season, he averaged 25.6 points, 5.2 assists, and 5.0 rebounds while averaging 22.1 points, 5.1 assists, and 3.7 rebounds in the playoffs.ย

The former Buffalo Billsโ€™ receiver also addressed the recent rumors swirling around the internet about his potential move to the Dallas Cowboys to join his brother, Trevon Diggs. The speculations about the brothers joining the force were instigated by Trevon himself, which Stefon was compelled to answer during his interview with GQ Sports.ย

Maybe one day, you never know, but no time soon, son. As a kid, we were like five years apart, so, I always wanted to play with my little brother. He’s healed up from injury, so, my guy’s ready to play. Still pulling for him.

Judging from the words of the four-time Pro Bowler, Stefon is ready to join his brother on the football field playing for the same team but since he has started a new chapter with the Texans, he wants to explore them and then, think about making any move.ย

After the remarkable season under rookie quarterback CJ Stroud and head coach DeMeco Ryans, they are strong contenders for the Super Bowl, especially after adding Stefon to the team. Having said that, they are aiming straight for Super Bowl glory by making a strategic shift in their gameplay.
