Yikes... Is The UFC's Sphere Event Flopping?

UFC CEO Dana White has spared no effort to make his dream project successful. In recent times, many have complained about the ticket price and the event not selling out completely. However, there are still a lot of tickets remaining to be sold. In light of this, the UFC CEO has made an intriguing remark that the Noche UFC might break Conor McGregorโ€™s PPV record of highest live gate.

The pre-fight ticket sales have been quite underwhelming. With just two weeks left for the event, there are still a lot of seats to be filled. One reason for this might be atrociously high-priced tickets. However, despite that, Dana White still hopes to have a successful night on September 14. As such, he even expects the gate to be a record-breaker, as reported by popular journalist Kevin Iole.

Dana (White) said today that there are about 1,700 tickets remaining for #NocheUFC Expects a sell-out and said the gate will be a record $21 million.

Dana White often mentioned that his dream was the UFC Noche event at the Las Vegas Sphere. As such, he even spent ample money to make it a success. With the recent statement, the UFC CEO doubles down on that. Interestingly, in doing so, he also highlighted breaking Conor McGregorโ€™s record. The Irishman currently holds the feat of achieving the highest gross revenue from ticket sales.

The UFC 205 fight card headlining McGregor and Eddie Alvarez reportedly earned a little more than $17 million in the gate. White is adamant about surpassing those numbers and earning around $21 million at Noche UFC. Apart from this, Iole also mentioned Canelo Alvarezโ€™s massive gate numbers ahead of the highly anticipated clash on September 14.

Talking about the clash between White and Alvarez, the UFC CEO seemed to have an advantage over the Mexican boxer. White and the Noche UFC event has the support of Saudi Delegate Turki Alalshikh. As such, both individuals have openly claimed the event would be a success.

However, the current statistics tell a different story. Alvarezโ€™s event remains expected to have a massive gate and will likely sell out quicker than Noche UFC. Despite the UFC CEOโ€™s confidence in the success of the Noche UFC event, only time will reveal which fighter generates more PPV sales.

The gate revenue and pay-per-view sales significantly influence the success of a combat sports event. โ€œGatesโ€ pertains to the total revenue from ticket sales before an event. On the other hand, โ€œpay-per-view salesโ€ refers to the income generated from providing access to view the events. Over the years, the UFC and Dana White have achieved substantial gate revenues. As for the 2024 UFC event gates, four UFC PPV events have already surpassed the $10 million mark.
