Winning an Olympic gold medal is an experience most athletes dream of and for a player who has won a lot, Stephen Curry is still basking in the glory of it. He had the opportunity to talk about how he felt when he got into a recent chat with USA Today Sports.

Steph Curry was the man that put the USA over the line twice as his shooting masterclass was too strong for both the Serbians and the French in the semifinal and final games, respectively. He used the interview to share how much it meant to him and what his expectations were before the tournament started.

A seven-game series, that’s a long build-up. This was just one game, 40 minutes, can you get it done… and then obviously the France game, gold medal game, in France. That last three minutes was storybook stuff and it still hasn’t really sunk in. I mean, winning a gold, we expected to do that, we knew it was going to be hard, but how it happened? I still watch some highlights.
Stephen Curry said

The just concluded Paris Olympics was arguably the toughest team the USA has had to face as countries now have players who can stand the night of the serial winners. Their dominance could have been ended if not for Chef Curry, who was constantly cooking and serving beyond-the-arc shots, ask the French commentators on that night.

Stephen Curry talks up LeBron James’ unlikely bond

Aside from winning his first Olympic gold medal, Stephen Curry also got the opportunity to suit up Avengers-style with his long-time rival LeBron James in a competitive game for the first time. He reflected on the experience and what it did for their newfound closeness.

All the battles we’ve had on the court and the back and forth, the fact that we actually got to be teammates, not just in any game like an All-Star game or whatever, but in high stakes basketball with a lot on the line…I think there’s a deepened respect and friendship there.
Stephen Curry shared

It was a fantastic moment for both the players and their fans and fortunately, it ended with a gold medal and some interesting plays made between them. Fans would be wishing King James’ agent had not interfered in the trade that could have made them NBA teammates.

However, friendship and camaraderie would be put aside and rivalry, but one borne out of deep respect for each other, would be on full display when they meet once again in the months to come. Their first encounter would take place in a thrilling Christmas Day blockbuster.
