Steph Curry and Isaiah Thomas Duel in Oakland

Stephen Curry, widely regarded as the greatest shooter of all time, continues to show unmatched talent and consistency. His ball skills and vision have earned him a reputation as one of the leagueโ€™s toughest guards to play against. Indeed, this view has now been reiterated by former Boston Celtics star Isaiah Thomas.

Thomas spoke with The Players Tribune recently. The former guard went head-to-head with many other star guards in the NBA. He talked about facing four-time champion Stephen Curry in the league. The basketball star revealed it was the Warriors superstar when asked which player was first to give him a tough game.

It was Curry, for sure. Curry was… And when I first got to the league, the Warriors wasn’t really good… So, like, Curry was one, that was one, that was a tough one. But we had our battles, but yeah, yeah, he got me, he got me a few times.

According to Isaiah Thomas, the Golden State Warriors star was a formidable opponent to play against. However, despite acknowledging that Curry got the better of him, he was adamant it didnโ€™t last for long. Thomas pointed out that he eventually figured out Curryโ€™s moves and then turned the game back. Nonetheless, he still gave a shout-out to the Olympic Gold medalist for his accomplishment and talent.

Thomas has been in and out of the NBA since suffering a hip injury that turned him into a role player. The two-time All-Star has seen less action subsequently and last played for the Phoenix Suns on a 10-day contract last season! Despite his present challenges, he is still known as a phenomenal scorer and has now given Curry his own flowers.

Golden State Warriors secure title ambitions with Stephen Curry extension

While Golden State didnโ€™t have the best offseason, they looked like theyโ€™ve learned some hard lessons. Their woes started after failing to keepย Klay Thompsonย andย losing him to the Dallas Mavericks. Following that, they waived Chris Paul instead of guaranteeing him $30 million for the upcoming season.

These disappointments painted a bad outlook for the Warriors entering the new season. However, it appears they have now taken steps to steer the franchise in the right direction lately. The Warriors and Stephen Curry recently agreed to a one-year, $62.6 million extension of his contract.

The new deal sees Curry cement his position as the highest earner on the team. The 36-year-old added to his soaring value with pivotal performances at the Paris Olympics. Certainly, with the contract negotiations behind him now, all attention will be focused on helping the team next season.
