Volkanovski is infamous for being impatient and jumping into fights without taking much of a gap. He got tired of waiting for his featherweight title shot and wanted to fight in the lightweight division to stay fit. After much consideration and discussion with the UFC, the Aussie superstar admitted to not wanting the Oliveira fight.
I could have a Lightweight fight. I think there is a lot of excitement there. But the UFC is not a big fan of jumping between weight classes…I might just have to wait (featherweight title shot). It’s only a couple of months, I’m sure I’ll be fine.

As Volkanovski had mentioned, fight fans were somewhat excited about seeing him fighting Charles Oliveira in a lightweight setting. Recently, in an Instagram Live, Dana White also mentioned something about both the fighters, which further sparked the curiosity. However, it seems like for Volkanovski, getting back the bantamweight title means more than being active and entertaining fans.

According to many, it was a wise choice for Volk, given his latest form and reckless decisions, to take fights. The featherweight title fight between Max Holloway vs. Ilia Topuria is scheduled to take place at UFC 308. Volkanovski will have a close eye on it and also has a favorable potential opponent from the mix. As such, he will likely end up fighting for the title next year.

On top of it, the Aussie fighter wants the BMF title to be on the line for the fourth fight. According to Volkanovski, that would be a good addition to their rivalry. On the other hand, it would be Holloway’s chance to get one win against a formidable opponent at least.
