Video: Title challenger Merab Dvalishvili READY for UFC 306 and removes stitches ahead of anticipated Sean O'Malley fight

With UFC 306 less than four weeks away, Merab Dvalishvili suffering a facial laceration was quite a jumscare. The Georgian faces bantamweight king Sean Oโ€™Malley at the Noche UFC (UFC 306) main event. The challenger suffered a cut in training and posted the aftermath on social media. He came under much scrutiny for it. However, now Dvalishvili touts his resolve by cutting out his own stitches!

In a new video, Mean โ€˜Machineโ€™ Dvalishvili can be seen acutely cutting the stitches with scissors. Though the fighter and his team insisted it was nothing major, CEO Dana White was adamant that it was foolhardy. It is because โ€˜Sugaโ€™ might just open up the cut if it doesnโ€™t heal. Nevertheless, Merab Dvalishviliโ€™s manager, Oren Hodak, also had assured his client wouldnโ€™t pull out of the September event.

Dvalishviliโ€™s original post was captionless and drew a response from Sean Oโ€™Malley. He expressed doubts about his withdrawal. However, the Georgian silently assures he is all but ready to go. Whether or not the UFC CEO was on point with his frustrations, itโ€™s a valid reasoning. As a matter of fact, Charles Oliveria sent waves when he suffered a similar cut on his eyelid and posted about it.

However, Dvalishvili, 33, does not want any lingering banter or doubt about him supposedly calling quits. More than the cut, the Georgian fighter might have to worry about Oโ€™Malleyโ€™s counterstriking. The wrestling needs to come from Dvalishvili to pose any threat to the bantamweight champion. Meanwhile, Oโ€™Malley seems pretty confident about the UFC 306 main event.

Sean Oโ€™Malley promises a brutal knockout of Merab Dvalishvili one way or another

UFC 306, or yet another Noche UFC, scheduled inside the โ€˜Sphereโ€™ in Las Vegas, Nevada, is edging nearer. Theย Riyadh Season Noche UFCย event โ€” with Sean Oโ€™Malley headlining, is to have long-running brand value implications. The champion has some โ€œbrandโ€ new ideas for that.

The champion even recently won theย 2024 ESPY for Best UFC Fighter Award. As such, he is oozing confidence ahead of the title fight. Things have taken a heated turn with the nationally charged trash talk recently. Oโ€™Malley does not care for ifs and buts and nations and cuts. He has some violent plans ahead.

Left hand to the chopper, …Brutally. I know Iโ€™m going to hurt him at one point, but then it could turn into a brutal KO. Just an absolute, not a good weight cut, not a good camp, and he just gets slept bad…Like, ย five or six punches just add up and the last one puts him into the canvas snoring, nose crooked, cat screaming MEOW!

Going into the September 14 Noche UFC headliner, itโ€™s no surprise Oโ€™Malley (18-1 MMA, 10-1 UFC) is veering toward a stand-up game. However, Oโ€™Malley, a Quintet Ultra Submission grappling alum, has the needed skills to do it all around. While the element of the cut above the eye seems to be simmering down, the fight still has a lot of dynamic left.
