Chet Holmgren's Honest Feelings on the Josh Giddey Trade

Nothing in life is permanent and Oklahoma City Thunder’s Chet Holmgren got to understand this better when he recently shared his emotional response to Josh Giddey’s trade to the Chicago Bulls on Paul George’s podcast. The two players spent significant time together, and both experienced the ups and downs of being professional athletes in the NBA.

Chet Holmgren revealed on the podcast that he felt hurt when he learned about the trade, as he considered Josh Giddey as more than just a teammate, but a close friend who helped him navigate the NBA during his time as a rookie. They were instrumental in the Thunder’s success, as they earned the top seed in the Western Conference despite being the youngest team in the league.

Man, I was f***ing hurt when I saw that Josh Giddey is not going to be on our team anymore. We all rock with him. That’s our dog, still is. He’s going to he’s going to go do great things in Chicago so we’re excited for him.
Chet Holmgren said on Podcast P

Giddey’s last season with the Thunder saw him average 12.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game. However, his inconsistent three-point shooting became a liability in the playoffs, leading to reduced minutes, thus the Thunder’s decision to trade him for Alex Caruso was likely made to address this need for shooters on the floor.

Despite the trade, Holmgren asserted that he expects great things from Giddey in his new role with the Bulls, as he will join a talented backcourt that has Coby White and the returning Lonzo Ball. However, fans would be eager for the outcome of the game when both teams meet on the 27th of October in what might seem like a revenge game for the Australian.

Chet Holmgren excited about addition of Isaiah Hartenstein to Thunder roster

Chet Holmgren, who literally mourned the exit of Josh Giddey, is also excited about his team’s other addition. In a conversation with Paul George on his podcast, the Oklahoma City Thunder’s young star expressed his enthusiasm for the addition of Isaiah Hartenstein.

Holmgren believed that Hartenstein brings a new level of depth to the Thunder’s frontcourt and is a great fit for the team. He’s also looking forward to seeing how Hartenstein’s skills will complement his own game.

I think the addition of Hartenstein is great. I think it opens up more possibilities to play different styles. Last year, we had a pretty defined style of play. That shit worked. Now we have more possibilities of playstyles.

Fans would love to see how the Thunder’s new rotation, featuring Holmgren and Hartenstein, will be put to the test during the opening fixture on October 24 against the Denver Nuggets and Nikola Jokic. The Thunder with the addition of Hartenstein and Caruso has made them more competitive and would be eager to go beyond last season’s disappointment faced against the Mavericks.
