One Moment From Every Jon Jones Fight

Jon Jones has given over a decade of his life to the UFC as a professional MMA fighter. Throughout these years, Jones became the youngest-ever UFC champion by defeating some of the nastiest opponents in history. However, at the last stage of his career, Jones has taken some inspiration from Floyd Mayweather and Tom Brady.

At the age of 37, Jon Jones is currently training to fight former champion Stipe Miocic in a legacy fight. It will be Jonesโ€™s first-ever heavyweight title defense after winning it at UFC 285. Interim champion Tom Aspinall wants to face โ€˜Bonesโ€™ at all costs. However, it appears Jones plans to beat Miocic and retire at the top like NFL legend Tom Grady and undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather.ย

Mayweather finished his career after achieving his 50-0 boxing record after beating MMA superstar Conor McGregor. Mayweather is a smart businessman and left the sport without any big injuries. Since then, he has participated in multiple exhibition bouts, for which he has made millions of dollars. Jones only has one loss due to disqualification.

โ€˜Bonesโ€™ intends to remove the loss from his record with the current MMA rule change. Similarly, Tom Brady announced his retirement last year. His last few seasons were amazing, given his Super Bowl victory with the Buccaneers in 2020 and some sensational comeback wins. He departed the sport on his terms, leaving fans wanting more from him. Jones apparently wants the same unless money says otherwise.

Jon Jones believes there is a way for him to fight Tom Aspinall despite leaning towards retirement

Since the announcement of Jon Jonesโ€™ fight with Stipe Miocic for the second time, fight fans have criticized the idea. Many fans donโ€™t want to see Jones fighting an old and allegedly washed Miocic and instead take on Tom Aspinall. However, Jones has frequently refused Aspinallโ€™s callouts due to his lack of popularity.

Due to this, the UFC interim heavyweight champion has accused Jones of holding up the division. According to Jones, fighting and winning against Miocic will be a perfect end to his decorated career. Given the outrage regarding him not fighting Aspinall, there might be a way to make that happen.

It feels good to know on the way out your sport was literally begging you to continue. You never know, maybe the Ufc will offer me a deal I canโ€™t refuse.

Dana White has spent a lot of time hyping up Jones in the run-up to the battle. The UFC CEO has regularly argued with the media over Jones not being the pound-for-pound number one in the current rankings. With the Madison Square Garden event approaching, seeing how things play out for Jones will be interesting.
