Women’s basketball sensation, Kelsey Plum has added another feather to her already decorated hat. This time she won her second gold medal in the history of the Olympic Games after Team USA defeated Team France in the finals. Kelsey and Team USA won via the narrowest margin of 1 point as they took home the gold after a score of 67-66 in their favor. As such, the whole world congratulated Plum and Team USA, including UFC CEO, Dana White.
White is a fan of most team sports, especially basketball and American football. Therefore, it was no surprise when he took to his Instagram story to celebrate the star athlete and Team USA. Plum, who is an alumnus of the University of Washington won her first gold in the women’s 3×3 Finals in Tokyo in 2020. The win against France consolidated Team USA’s position as the most dominant Team in Women’s basketball.
This was because they won their 8th consecutive gold medal at the Olympics. Moreover, they have secured 61 consecutive wins in the same competition. The credit for this particular win went to A’ja Wilson who scored the game-high 21 points and 13 rebounds. Supporting her were Plum and Kahleah Copper who bagged 12 points each.
Diana Taurasi, who is the all-time WNBA leading scorer won her 6th gold medal with Team USA. A record for any team sport. Unfortunately, she didn’t appear in the final. Therefore, Dana White was right in congratulating the entire Team USA. However, he may given more attention to Plum because of her previous association with the UFC.
Kelsey Plum once showed up at The Ultimate Fighter
Kelsey Plum once made a surprise appearance on Episode 10 of The Ultimate Fighter 32: Alexa Grasso vs. Valentina Shevchenko. This was to oversee a basketball competition for the coaches’ challenge. In this particular contest, the coaches were given four quarters to score as many points as possible.
