UFC fighters are not unknown to gun violence. On several occasions, the people of the fighting community have openly condemned the gun violence that happens in and around the world. In one such instance, Ramon Taveras, a UFC bantamweight fighter, has shared his bits from a recent gun incident that he was the victim of.

America and gun violence both have become a synonymous term nowadays;ย Donald Trumpโ€˜s recent assassination attempt is one such example. On Sunday night, Ramon Taveras took to his socials (@catch_deez_hands/IG) and shared his encounter with some goons. As per Taveras, a group of armed men drove up to his motherโ€™s house and tried to attack him. Luckily, he and his family survived.

Taveras was disheartened by the gun violence surrounding the state and expressed how unsafe the city was. He even went on to the Jacksonville Sheriffโ€™s Office to report the incident, where Taveras stated that he was clearly dismissed by the officials. Per Taveras, the police claimed that he brought it upon himself, and they assumed that it was just another gang violence.

Interestingly, this was not the first time Taveras was upset about the laws and regulations of the city. A few years back, Taveras lost his brother due to such gun violence, for which he claimed that the Jacksonville Sheriffโ€™s Office did the bare minimum to catch the culprits of the incident. As such, the killers are yet to get caught by the police authority. The UFC fighter appears to be just another victim of home invasions and gun violence in and around the world.

Who is Ramon Taveras?

The new addition to the UFC bantamweight division, Ramon Taveras, was born on January 9, 1994, in Jacksonville, Florida. Tavares has a background in mixed martial arts, where his amateur career spanned three years until 2019. Interestingly, like Alex Pereira and several other fighters, Taveras also made his UFC debut in his 30s.

In his first DWCS opportunity, Taveras went up against Serhiy Sidey, and it proved unsuccessful for him at that time. However, he managed to return for the season finale for a second shot at getting a UFC contract. The fighter landed a thunderous first-round knockout that saw him earn the contract.

Taveras made his UFC debut on January 20, 2024, facing Serhiy Sidey in a rematch. Interestingly, he left no crumbs in beating the Canadian fighter and making a successful UFC debut. Following this, Taveras was scheduled to fight Caolan Laughran at UFC 304. However, due to a serious injury, the Jacksonville native had to withdraw from the fight. It remains to be seen who Taveras will face in his upcoming bout.
