The group games of the Paris Olympics 2024 men’s basketball event are over. All qualifying teams were picked as per their seedings to decide the knockout stage rounds. Once the Olympic committee, along with FIBA, drew out the opponents, it showed that LeBron James and Team USA had a favorable route to the gold medal game. Therefore, it has drawn humor from fans across the globe.
Once the final standings were confirmed, Team USA led all competing nations based on points difference at this Olympics. With Germany finishing second, they and USA would be in the first pool. Going by the rules, they would also face the worst of the qualifying teams. Team USA received Brazil first, then either Australia or Serbia in the Semifinals. On the other side, Germany will have Canada and France.
Therefore, except for Serbia, Team USA has an otherwise easier bracket. LeBron James and his superstar teammates will have an easier time tackling Brazil initially. Then they have won against Serbia and Australia in the friendlies and group games.
It should be a cakewalk unless the likes of Nikola Jokic and his Serbian teammates turn up the heat. Nevertheless, with the plethora of stars at their disposal, it is unlikely that the Americans will have a problem. Had they drawn along with Canada and Germany, they could have had some nerves tingling on their backs.
