"I want to BURN my memorabilia!" UFC's 'one-eyed' pirate disgusted by Paris Olympics opening ceremony

UFC on ABC 7 at Etihad Arena on Yas Island will see Sharabutdin Magomedov meet Michal Oleksiejczuk in a co-main event fight. During his pre-fight media availability, Shara touched upon the topic of the Paris Olympics 2024. With how much controversy the 2024 Summer Olympics has been courting, many have called it a black mark upon the sport. โ€˜Shara Bulletโ€™ is no different.

The 2024 opening ceremony started at 1:30 p.m. EDT (will re-air on NBC.com; NBC app) this early week. A drag rendition of what looked like the โ€˜Last Supperโ€™ became controversial. 18 entities reenacted a Pagan Olympian feast, but it was strikingly too similar to the Christian symbolism. Despite the organizersโ€™ insistence, it drew flak from all quarters. Now, Shara Magomedov vents frustration around it as well.

Honestly speaking, I was in shock. I felt like they just tried to mock everybody. It rather looked like a meme than a real official ceremony….I used to be a big fan of the Olympics and collected memorabilia from Atlanta, Sydney, etc. I collected those Olympic memorabilia, and it’s still kept at my place. But now I feel like burning all these stuff down…I want to burn my memorabilia down.

Dagestan phenom and current lightweight king Islam Makhachev has also pitched in on the Paris Olympics 2024 matter. Heย and some others in Team Khabibย hold a deep reverence for judokas being high-level. So itโ€™d make sense for him to say so. Much like the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games, Makhachev wants the Olympics back in his country again. Magomedov added somewhat similar sentiments as well.

He said his UFC journey is his real โ€œOlympicsโ€ for now, not the debasing Paris Olympics 2024. He billed it as a process of humiliating human values and religion. As for the MMA scene, he defeated Bruno Silva via a unanimous nod in his UFC 294 debut last year. More recently, he snagged a third-round TKO win over Antonio Trocoli at UFC Saudi Arabia. Itโ€™s all eyes forward to Michal Oleksiejczuk now.

Shara Magomedov explains his decision to face Michal Oleksiejczuk

The UFC will visit Abu Dhabi on Saturday for the first of two events in 2024, with UFC on ABC 7 taking place at the Etihad Arena. 30-year-old โ€˜Bulletโ€™ is all in for the matter. With him having issues fighting stateside, he isnโ€™t pleasing home crowds any soon. But Shara Magomedov remains a bigger than-ever draw in the Kingdom.

โ€˜Shara Bulletโ€™ has 11 of his 13 career victories by stoppage. Consequently, heโ€™s finished all of those wins by knockout. After UFC Denver, he made a fiery callout to Kevin Holland for a battle of glory. A winner at UFC Fight Night: Whittaker vs. Aliskerov (UFC on ABC 6), he has also been fielding wrestle challenge callouts from Bo Nickal.

Despite plenty of build-ups elsewhere, he discloses why he chose a relatively short-notice clash with middleweight Michal Oleksiejczuk.

Yes, we did that interview, and you asked me when I wanted to fight next…and I said I wanted to return as soon as possible. Well, I am a man of my word…and ready for battle…I thought that was a chance I could not miss out on, so I flew here right away and asked Dana White to make a fight for me here and he got me what I wanted.
Shara Mogomedov further said to Red Corner MMA (@RedCorner_MMA)

Although undefeated, Shara Magomedov (13-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) has a waning chance of becoming a full-time titleholder to appear in reigns in front of a stateside crowd at top venues. Hence, Magomedov sees UFC on ABC 7 as a perfect chance to be ready when called upon. He feels heโ€™s ready even though he wonโ€™t have an extensive stretched-out camp.
