Paddy Pimblett‘s rise to fame has been a dream run. The former Cage Warriors champion has had only six fights in the UFC and is already a huge star. Recently, at UFC 304, the British lightweight fighter further proved why CEO Dana White appreciated him so much as a fighter.

Paddy Pimblett took on UFC veteran Bobby Green for a lightweight bout and finished it in the first round. The Manchester crowd loved their homegrown hero taking a win like that. After the fight, Pimblett shared an old tweet from 2011, when he was only 16. There, he mentioned White and talked about potentially fighting in the UFC. 13 years later, he manifested his dreams.

After his controversial fight with Jared Gordon, Pimblett attracted much criticism. The fans even accused him of getting help from the UFC. On top of it, his unapologetic and trash-talking personality didn’t help either. However, according to the fighter, UFC 304’s performance was a tight slap on his haters.

In the fight, Bobby Green surprisingly shot for a takedown, which resulted in him getting choked out by Paddy Pimblett. The bout was Green’s first time getting submitted in the UFC. It was a difficult one since Green was left unconscious for a while after the referee stopped the fight. Pimblett is also afraid that he may have caused some damage to Green’s arm.

During the post-fight press conference, Pimblett addressed all the hate and criticism he gets in general. According to the fighter, many make the mistake of underestimating him as a fighter. Green didn’t respect his grappling and paid a high price for it at UFC 304.

People kept talking about that in the build-up to this. So yeah, I was surprised, but as I say, everyone underestimates me just because I look like a 14-year-old girl
