Tom Aspinall recently won against Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304. However, his win has been marred with early stoppage allegations. At the post-fight press conference, the interim heavyweight champion addressed these allegations.

Tom Aspinall stepped into the octagon at UFC 304 to headline the co-main event against Curtis Blaydes. The rematch against Blaydes was for his first title defense as the interim heavyweight champion. Many people accused referee Marc Goddard of stopping the fight prematurely. Aspinall defended his decision stating that there was nowhere for Blaydes to go other than get knocked out after he was down.

What kind of idiot is saying that? Like, I dropped him with a one, two. He’s face down on the canvas, I’ve got 250 pounds on his back, and I’m landing seven, eight unanswered shots. Like, where’s he gonna go? Do you know what I mean? Where’s Curtis going to go after that? There’s only one place going to go, and it’s asleep. So are we going to let it get to that point?…Great reffing by Marc Goddard.

The fight lasted just sixty seconds. Aspinall threw a hard jab hand that dropped his heavyweight opponent and followed it with a couple of rights to the head. Referee Marc Goddard stepped in and Aspinall secured another first-round win.

Now, Aspinall has enough credibility to demand a Jon Jones title fight. The heavyweight champion is ready to come back this November against Stipe Miocic. UFC CEO, Dana White declared that Aspinall would be the backup fighter for the undisputed heavyweight showdown, just in case either of the two opponents fell through.

Alexander Volkanovski speaks on Tom Aspinall vs. Jon Jones

Alexander Volkanovski recently spoke on the much-demanded matchup between Tom Aspinall and Jon Jones. ‘Bones’ is the glorified heavyweight champion who has ‘technically’ never lost a fight. People believe interim heavyweight champion, Tom Aspinall is the one who will change that.

Alexander Volkanovski recently addressed this in a YouTube video where he questioned the status of Jon Jones’s heavyweight championship. Volkanovski questioned whether Jon Jones should really be a defending heavyweight champion if he does not step into the octagon against Tom Aspinall.

What’s the point of all this if Tom Aspinall and Jon Jones aren’t gonna face? Can you really claim heavyweight champion, you know, a defending heavyweight champion without actually facing Tom Aspinall? Some people might get upset with me with this but that’s just what I feel.

The former featherweight champion believes Tom Aspinall is a dangerous matchup for Jon Jones. The Brit could be the one to take down the giant that is Jon Jones. So it would be incredibly exciting to see the two heavyweights battle it out in the octagon and reach a decisive ending once and for all.
