What Muhammad did was a callback to England’s recent loss to Spain at Euro 2024. ‘Football’ is huge in the UK. At the UEFA Euro 2024 final, Spain defeated England 2-1 to claim their fourth European Championship title. Muhammad used the loss not only to irk the English fans but also to indicate that another Englishman will soon face a loss.

UFC 304 is Belal Muhammad’s first title fight in his UFC career. He recently gave a statement to TMZ Sports expressing his excitement for the highly awaited rematch against Leon Edwards. The two had previously fought back in 2021, and the fight ended in a no-contest.

This was because of an accidental eye poke by Edwards in the second round, which left Muhammad unable to continue. However, now, they will finally face each other in a few day’s time, and Muhammad believes it will all be worth the wait.
For me, I’ve always enjoyed old wrestling guys, the bad guys all the time. I think it’s gonna be that much sweeter when I go out there, win the belt, beat their hometown guy as I was getting booed the whole time.

He also had a message for Leon Edwards, telling him that there was nowhere else left for him to run. Edwards has successfully defended his title twice. It will be interesting to see if the Brit can solidify his legacy at welterweight with a third title defense or let Belal Muhammad proclaim himself as equal to former greats like Georges St-Pierre.
