WMMA pioneer Gina Carano’s lengthy lawsuit against Disney might just go to trial after all. Previously Disney’s ‘The Mandalorian’ star, she suddenly saw an out on February 10, 2021. Ever since Carano said, they targeted her for disregarding the company’s inclusive narrative. The lawsuit has gained much attention in recent times. In April, Disney moved to dismiss the lawsuit, two months after it was filed.
The Elite XC and Strikeforce veteran’s lawsuit moves forward as trial looms. Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett denied Disney’s motion to dismiss. Garnett issued her 23-page ruling Wednesday. The Dallas County, TX native sued for damages due to wrongful termination. X owner Elon Musk financially backed her case of free speech usage and funded the lawsuit in California Central District federal court.

Disney, or rather Lucasfilm LTD., very unceremoniously pronounced her no longer an employee, which is how the MMA star turned actress herself got to know it. Carano also lost her UTA agents after leaving Disney. Throughout several tweets, Gina Carano’s anti-mask stance and controversial voter fraud comments clashed with them. Carano also called foul on slander when the company based it all on her phrasing being allegedly transphobic.

The 42-year-old said it wasn’t transgender discrimination but more of a passive protest against mob abuse to put gender pronouns in socials. Later down the line, though somewhat controversial, she also got the backing of veteran podcaster Joe Rogan. Rogan, a part-time stand-up comedian, is vastly against woke comedy and the push to over-inclusiveness himself. The question is, how far would all this roll?

The writings were all on the wall for Carano, 42, as she faced backlash on her somewhat conservative stance. She was picked out of promotional duties for her popular Star Wars show. The show ran for three seasons and is now in development as a feature film on Disney+. But, all without one, Gina Carano.

Gina Joy Carano now finds herself fielding limited Hollywood roles in light of alleged conservative political views. What of MMA, though? She says why not. The actress mentioned as much to The Hollywood Reporter in a March profile, The Daily Wire, USA Today, and many other outlets.

A Muay Thai and Gaidojutsu expert, she compiled a 7–1 record in Strikeforce in under three years. She and Cris Cyborg were the first women to be headliners of a major MMA event in 2009. She and the “other” WMMA pioneer Ronda Rousey have long hinted they’d be the perfect fit for a legacy return against each other. A good turnover in the suit might just polish her return.
