Rose Namajunas and Tracy Cortez recently fought at UFC Denver in a highly exciting showdown. A highlight moment of the fight was when Namajunas knicked Cortez’s false eyelashes off right before dropping her to the ground. Namajunas talked about it at the post-fight press conference.

The UFC returned to Denver, Colorado for the seventh time for UFC on ESPN 59. Rose Namajunas and Tracy Cortez headlined the main event at the Ball Arena with over 16000 people in attendance. At the post-fight press conference, Namajunas responded to a reporter who brought up that the former champion had knocked off Cortez’s eyelashes in the middle of the fight.

I don’t know how she does that. First of all, I can’t even wear eyelashes, period. Everytime they try to put it on me I get sleepy. So her fighting with it, that’s cr*zy.

Rose Namajunas put on a dominating performance against Tracy Cortez. Their fight went the distance and Namajunas ultimately won by unanimous decision. The former two-time straw weight champion dropped Cortez early in the first round and maintained control with her striking and grappling. Cortez, who took the fight on short notice, struggled to keep up but managed to last all five rounds.

Namajunas’s opponent attributed part of her loss to the lack of a full training camp. She felt that a more prepared approach might have led to a better performance against the former champion. Regardless, she expressed pride in her ability to go the distance against a highly regarded opponent like Namajunas. Meanwhile, Namajunas saw herself moving closer to title contention in the flyweight division and expressed confidence in potentially competing for the championship soon.

Rose Namajunas is a two-time strawweight champion who moved up weight classes to the 125 lbs division last year. After her victory at Denver, Namajunas wants to contest for the title again. She does not care whether that is for the undisputed flyweight belt or a never-heard-before women’s BMF title.

The former champion lost her title at UFC 274 against Carla Esparza via split decision. Since then, she has scored two back-to-back victories in her last three fights. At the octagon interview, she told Paul Felder and the rest of the UFC her aspiration for a title fight.

Give me the belt, man, I want it. I’m Colorado’s first UFC champion so I want to bring the second one back here. Either that or maybe a women’s BMF, I don’t know!

However, that was not the end of Namajunas’s dreams. Later she told the ESPN crew that she had this vision of bringing the UFC to Lithuania, her parents’ home country. The former champion would love to rematch Manon Fiorot or anybody else for the belt. It will be interesting to see what Namajunas does to make her dreams come true.
