Attending an NBA game has become expensive with time. Then when one gets to games, they want to enjoy some food and drink which is also costly, especially when families come into play. These concerns came to the attention of Phoenix Suns owner and billionaire Mat Ishbia.
As soon as he became owner, he made his intentions clear of winning titles and to bring in fans to engage with the teams. He oversaw the influx of superstars Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal as his intentions of winning NBA titles started to take shape.
But in all this time, he also saw that fans were not filling up Footprint Center. If his team were to succeed, he needs the arena to be loud enough to push his players on. But at the same time, he was aware of the criticism newly elected President Donald Trump made about fans spending a lot of money.
A family of 4 used to spend $98 on hot dogs/water/popcorn. Now they can enjoy that same meal for $24. Our fans and community are the foundation of what we do and we will continue to invest in making this the best organization in all of basketball, on and off the court.

These concessions should go a long way to help families spend on food without having to drain their wallets. At the same time, this should entice more fans to attend Phoenix Suns games and cheer the team on to win games.
Mat Ishbia wants families to enjoy watching Phoenix Suns play
Mat Ishbia is worth around $9 billion and has already spent a lot of money on brand new facilities for the Phoenix Mercury. These concessions mean he will be spending out of his pocket to pay vendors. But that did not bother him as he continued to write on X what he wants for fans.
Now a family of four will spend one-fourth the original cost for food and drinks. This overall drop in outlay is a first this season in the NBA. At a time when teams are trying to add avenues to increase sales, Mat Ishbia is trying to first get fans into arenas.
The billionaire might be working on creating a culture in Phoenix, Arizona. A culture where fans become die-hard supporters of the franchise. Meaning they will still attend games even when the Suns may be losing. This may become smart business decision to give these concessions in order to build that fanbase.
