With such an anomaly at hand, the ‘Chechen’s recent attempt at calling out Robert Whittaker was not received as seriously as intended. The former UFC champion had some interesting things to say in his recent response to Chimaev’s callout.
Robert Whittaker recently sat down for a conversation with From The Stand. In that interview, ‘The Reaper’ reacted to the ‘Chechen’s comment after his recent win against Ikram Aliskerov at UFC Saudi Arabia. The two were the original matchup set to headline the main event at UFC Saudi Arabia.
Well, I will say, ‘See you soon?’ It’s like, where? You can’t get into any country. Where are you going to see me, bro? When I’m in the area, right? Yeah. So that’s tricky to start with.

Why can Chimaev not get into any country? ‘Borz’ got a little too friendly with Ramzan Kadyrov, the current leader of Chechnya. The US government has sanctioned the Russian politician for crimes against humanity. This affiliation has left Chimaev unable to enter the US and other countries with similar sentiments. However, Whittaker is not against taking on Khamzat Chimaev in another fight.
Whittaker said he does not pick his fights. If the UFC is interested in making the fight, then he is ready to headline another card. ‘The Reaper’ said their paths are sure to cross highlighting that they both are top 10 middleweights. It will be interesting to see when this highly anticipated fight between the undefeated ‘Chechen’ and the next likely contender for the middleweight title takes place.

Fans were definitely receptive to Whittaker’s trolling. Many found ‘The Reaper’s comments about Chimaev to be hilarious. Many started trolling the ‘Chechen’ themselves for pulling out of the fight. One user wrote that when Chimaev said ‘See you soon’ he meant on TV. Another comment read that Whittaker would destroy the undefeated Chimaev while another user wrote that nobody respects ‘Borz’ anymore.
Clearly, public sentiments towards Khamzat Chimaev are lower than where he was two years back. This is despite the fact that the Chechen has been suffering from one illness or the other. It will be interesting to see how the Chechen goes back on top and if this fight ever happens anytime soon.
